The record

Before the story, the record.

Five companies inside the Hawksmoor Construction Group, a group turning over £10m+, and a working life that started on site at sixteen. The evidence first. The story after it.

The short version

From the tools at sixteen. Still on them.

Only now they’re systems, processes and AI. From sixteen to now, drawn end to end.

01Age 16

The tools

Started here. A carpenter with one bag of tools and everything to learn.

02Thirteen years

Someone else’s name

Learning it properly, on someone else’s site. The board out front carried someone else’s name. The private jobs came in my own time.

03Up to 28

£20m projects

Running £20,000,000 projects. The kind of house most people only see from the pavement. Running them, not owning them.

Hawksmoor

Came off site and founded Hawksmoor on one belief: a construction company should build exceptional homes and exceptional people. From here the ground was mine.

05Today

The group

Five companies, one trade. Hawksmoor earns it. Evergreen keeps it. The Academy teaches it.

06Next

What’s next

A premium workwear brand. And business AI management systems, already running inside the group.

Why the coaching exists

If it doesn’t work on our own sites, it doesn’t get taught.

Somewhere along the way, trades and builders became a target market for coaching gurus: people who’ve never priced a job, chased a retention, or carried a payroll through a wet January.

I built The Build & Scale Academy as the opposite of that. Everything in it is implemented in the group first. If it doesn’t work on our own sites and our own balance sheet, it doesn’t make the curriculum.

The group

One group. Three ways of building.

Everything sits inside the Hawksmoor Construction Group. Each arm funds and feeds the others.

Construction · the engine

Hawksmoor Construction

Construction earns it.

The flagship, and the engine of everything else. Live sites, real teams, real clients: the business that gives the rest of this its credibility.

The Build & Scale Academy

The Academy teaches it.

Coaching for trades, builders and contractors, run to exactly the same standard as the sites. If it doesn’t work on our own sites, it doesn’t get taught.

The work

Drawn once. Built once.

Prime residential construction in London by Hawksmoor: whole-house builds, structural work, and the details that decide whether a room reads properly. Real projects, real photographs.

In his own words

“Cash flow in construction is certainly the hardest thing to manage.”

Paul Fitzgerald · On cash flow

“I’m a big believer in: you can never make a second first impression.”

Paul Fitzgerald · On clean sites

“Good talent in the construction industry is probably the hardest thing to find.”

Paul Fitzgerald · On hiring

“Mistakes happen in every single business, regardless of whether it’s construction or not. But what matters is how you put them right.”

Paul Fitzgerald · On accountability

“Every elite business owner or world class sports star is coached on a daily basis, so why should it be any different for those running construction companies?”

The companies

Where to go from here.

Coaching · for trades, builders & contractors

You built the trade. Let’s scale the business.

A twelve-month programme for owners turning over up to £10m+ who want a business that works as hard as they do. Start with a free tool, or go straight in.

Construction

Construction earns it.

Where it all actually happens: live sites, real teams, real clients. The business that gives everything else here its credibility.

Property

Build well. Hold long. Let time do the work.

Run with my wife Frankie. Assets we build and then keep. A self-employed builder gets no company pension, so this is the pension.

Which of these are you?

Five reasons people land on this page. Pick the one that sounds like you and I’ll point you to the right part of the group.

Hawksmoor Construction

Prime residential construction in London. Hawksmoor is the flagship and the engine of the group: live sites, real teams, real clients, and the standard everything else here is measured against.

What happens next. Have a look at the company site. If the project is real, send me a line about it and we’ll talk it through properly.

The Build & Scale Academy

A twelve-month programme for trades, builders and contractors who are brilliant on the tools but stuck running the business. Part of the Hawksmoor Construction Group, which is the whole point.

What happens next. Visit the Academy, or start with a free tool: the sixty-second quiz, the scorecard, or your real hourly rate.

Evergreen Property

The group’s property arm, run with my wife Frankie. Assets we build and then keep, rather than build and sell.

What happens next. Send me the outline: the site, the deal, or what you’re looking to put to work. It comes straight to me.

Press & speaking

From the tools at sixteen to a £10m+ group: construction, property and coaching, told straight. I turn up prepared and I give you the real numbers.

What happens next. Use the form. It arrives with the subject already set to press and speaking, so tell me the date and the audience.

Contact

For anything about the group, the companies or the Academy, use the form and it comes straight to me.
